Dr. Shilpa H. Amin is a native of Bethesda, Maryland, a Board-certified Family Medicine physician at Solace who brings a unique blend of clinical expertise, intertwined with the ‘art’ of practicing medicine, integrating ethics, quality and health care compliance knowledge to promote patient advocacy. With a Masters in Jurisprudence in Health Law with a Certification in Healthcare Compliance alongside her medical degree from The George Washington University, she understands both the clinical and regulatory complexities that can prevent patients from accessing proper care. Her deep interest and experiences in health services research, understanding gender differences and women's health across the life course, care coordination, quality, risk management and patient safety drives her commitment to making healthcare work better for everyone.
Dr. Amin completed her residency at the GWU-Holy Cross Hospital Family Medicine program, geriatrics and women’s health fellowships at UPMC-St. Margaret’s and the Mayo Clinic. She holds a Certificate of added qualifications in geriatrics, plus advanced masters degrees in Biomedical Sciences and in Jurisprudence. Her areas of expertise span preventive medicine, evidence-based medicine and patient centered outcomes research, and health consumer education—skills that make her especially effective at translating complex medical information into actionable guidance for patients navigating health systems of care.
When she's not advocating for patients across all walks of life, you'll find Dr. Amin at Orange Theory Fitness (she's in the 500+ club!), working on pottery, painting and mosaic art, or creating Art therapy videos that she posts on social media. She's also a dedicated fan of Law & Order, The Guilded Age and The Pitt, enjoys creative writing, playing piano, listening and singing to all genres of music, has a particular jocular side with mid-life aspirations to be the next Zarna Garg! —all of which reflects her belief that humor, art, and creativity are essential parts of staying grounded in healthcare and having cultural competencies in the human condition.
