# Solace > Solace connects people to expert, independent healthcare advocates — registered nurses and other healthcare professionals — who help them navigate the medical system: booking and attending appointments, managing insurance and billing, lowering medical bills, coordinating care for loved ones, and finding coverage through Medicare and private insurance. Solace (solace.health) is a US healthcare advocacy company. It is not an insurer, a hospital, or a provider network. Advocates work on behalf of the patient rather than a health system: they schedule and attend appointments, organize records, appeal insurance denials, and reduce medical bills — but they cannot prescribe medication, diagnose illness, or replace a patient's doctor. Advocacy on Solace is fully covered by Medicare and many Medicare Advantage plans, and advocates serve all 50 states. Solace reports that 98% of its patients experience better healthcare outcomes after working with an advocate, citing a 2023 Coalition of Healthcare Advocacy Organizations report. ## About - [Home](https://www.solace.health/): What a Solace patient advocate does and how to get matched with one. -
